Jane Austen 2.0 Sneak Peek
The first dress of my new Jane Austen inspired collection is officially done. The inspiration behind this dress is taken from the portrait of Jane Austen by James Andrews circa 1870. It's believed that it was based from a 1810 pencil and watercolor sketch by Cassandra Austen (Jane's only sister).

I made the ruffle around her neck out of a iridescent white organza, which is inspired by William Shakespeare. The rest of the dress is made from a light blue peau de soie satin. In French, peau de soie (pronounced poe dugh swa) means the skin of silk. The top texture feels smooth like silk, but it's a man-made satin.
